Rental Terms
All car rentals with Highbury Car Hire are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking or vehicle pickup. This document outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance information, and your obligations related to the specific rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle with Us
- To rent a vehicle from Highbury Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid and full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as meet any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made on our website, via phone, or directly at our Highbury office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The total payment and any security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required. Please report any pre-existing damage immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, taking into account only normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be assessed, and charges will be applied accordingly. The fuel level should match what was supplied at collection, as additional refueling charges apply for discrepancies. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All vehicle rentals come with basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to minimize your financial exposure. It's important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or losses up to the insurance excess, unless covered by extra insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transportation of hazardous materials and sub-letting to unauthorized individuals is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure compliance with passenger and weight limits, and do not drive outside designated geographical areas without prior approval.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Highbury will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are subject to English and Welsh law, with any disputes being resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Terms Update Notification
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
